Since 2006, we have supplied Japanese vehicles to customers in more than 100 countries. Trucks have become one of the most important parts of our business, and over the years we have learned that choosing the right used truck requires looking beyond the obvious numbers.<\/p>\n<p>In this article, I would like to explain how we think about selecting good Japanese used trucks for overseas customers.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"How We Choose Good Japanese Used Trucks | EVERY TRADING CEO Explains\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EhBZ5QAALP4\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><br \/>\n<\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>First, We Ask What the Truck Needs to Do<\/h2>\n<p>Before looking at a specific truck, I think we need to understand its purpose.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the most important points in our approach.<\/p>\n<p>A customer may need a light-duty truck for city deliveries. Another may need a medium-duty flatbed for transporting materials. A construction company may be looking for a dump truck, while another business may require a crane truck, box truck, tanker, or refrigerated vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>These customers may all say, \u201cI need a Japanese used truck,\u201d but they do not need the same truck.<\/p>\n<p>That is why we start by considering questions such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What will the truck carry?<\/li>\n<li>What payload is required?<\/li>\n<li>What body type is needed?<\/li>\n<li>What are the local road conditions?<\/li>\n<li>Will the truck operate mainly in a city or in more demanding areas?<\/li>\n<li>Is 2WD suitable, or is 4WD required?<\/li>\n<li>What engines and parts can be supported locally?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Only after understanding the job can we properly judge whether a particular truck is a good choice.<\/p>\n<p>Buyers can compare the different specifications currently available in Japan through our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.everycar.jp\/used-cars.php?type=Truck\">Japanese Used Trucks for Sale<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>We Look Beyond the Model Name<\/h2>\n<p>Japanese truck names are well known in many countries.<\/p>\n<p>Isuzu Elf, Isuzu Forward, Hino Dutro, Hino Ranger, Mitsubishi Fuso Canter, Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter, and other models have been used for many different commercial applications.<\/p>\n<p>But I never recommend judging a truck only by its model name.<\/p>\n<p>Within one model family, there can be many different model codes, engines, wheelbases, drivetrains, transmissions, payload classes, and body configurations.<\/p>\n<p>Two trucks may both be called Hino Ranger, for example, but they may have been designed for completely different jobs.<\/p>\n<p>This is why information such as the model code and engine model matters.<\/p>\n<p>When selecting a truck for export, we want to understand the individual vehicle\u2014not simply recognize the badge on the front.<\/p>\n<h2>Mileage Is Important, but It Is Not the Whole Story<\/h2>\n<p>Mileage is one of the first numbers many buyers check.<\/p>\n<p>It is useful information, but I do not believe mileage alone tells you whether a used truck is good.<\/p>\n<p>Commercial trucks are working vehicles. Their previous use, maintenance, age, body condition, mechanical condition, and overall specification all need to be considered together.<\/p>\n<p>A lower-mileage truck is not automatically the best choice, just as a higher-mileage truck is not automatically unsuitable.<\/p>\n<p>This is especially important when comparing vehicles of different ages or trucks that were used for different purposes.<\/p>\n<p>For me, the better question is not simply, \u201cHow many kilometers has it traveled?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The better question is, \u201cWhat does the complete condition of this truck tell us?\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>We Check the Truck Body as Well as the Chassis<\/h2>\n<p>With commercial trucks, the body is part of the value.<\/p>\n<p>A dump truck needs to be evaluated as a dump truck. A flatbed needs to work for the customer&#8217;s cargo. A crane truck needs to be considered together with its equipment. A box truck has different requirements again.<\/p>\n<p>That means we cannot focus only on the cab, engine, or odometer.<\/p>\n<p>We also need to pay attention to the working body and the specifications that matter for the intended application.<\/p>\n<p>For overseas customers, this can be particularly important because replacing or modifying a truck body after import may add significant cost.<\/p>\n<p>If the correct body type can be selected in Japan from the beginning, the truck may provide better value after arrival.<\/p>\n<h2>We Think About the Engine and Future Maintenance<\/h2>\n<p>When a truck is exported, our responsibility should not end with getting it onto a vessel.<\/p>\n<p>The customer needs to operate and maintain that truck in their own country.<\/p>\n<p>This is why the engine model and local maintenance environment can matter.<\/p>\n<p>Some customers already know exactly which engine they prefer because mechanics and spare parts are widely available in their market. Other customers may need more information before choosing.<\/p>\n<p>Newer technology is not automatically better for every market, and older technology is not automatically the right answer either.<\/p>\n<p>The correct choice depends on the customer&#8217;s operating environment, maintenance capability, parts availability, budget, and intended use.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the reasons why we ask where the truck will be used, not only what model the customer wants.<\/p>\n<h2>Photos and Vehicle Information Need to Be Read Together<\/h2>\n<p>Buying internationally means that customers often make decisions without physically standing next to the truck in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Good information therefore becomes extremely important.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage buyers to look carefully at the available photographs and vehicle details together.<\/p>\n<p>Check the registration year, model code, engine information, mileage, fuel type, transmission, drivetrain, dimensions, body type, and other available specifications that matter for your intended use.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, remember that a used truck is not a new truck.<\/p>\n<p>Normal wear, scratches, dents, stains, corrosion, repairs, and age-related condition may exist depending on the individual vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>If something important is unclear, ask before purchasing.<\/p>\n<p>In my experience, confirming one additional detail before payment is much easier than solving a misunderstanding after the truck has arrived overseas.<\/p>\n<h2>A Good Truck Must Also Be Importable<\/h2>\n<p>Even if we find a very good truck in Japan, it is not a good choice for the customer if it cannot legally or practically be imported into the destination country.<\/p>\n<p>Different countries have different requirements for vehicle age, emissions, inspections, steering position, commercial vehicle classifications, import permits, taxes, duties, and registration.<\/p>\n<p>Those requirements can also change.<\/p>\n<p>Before purchasing, buyers should confirm the latest regulations for their specific country and vehicle category with the appropriate government authority or qualified local professional.<\/p>\n<p>This needs to be part of vehicle selection\u2014not something considered only after payment.<\/p>\n<h2>Price Is Important, but Value Is More Important<\/h2>\n<p>Of course, customers have budgets. Price matters in every business.<\/p>\n<p>But the cheapest truck is not necessarily the truck that creates the best value.<\/p>\n<p>If a low-priced truck needs major work after arrival, has the wrong body type, uses an engine that is difficult to support locally, or does not meet the customer&#8217;s actual requirements, the initial saving can disappear quickly.<\/p>\n<p>When we evaluate a truck, I prefer to think about total value.<\/p>\n<p>What are you receiving for the price?<\/p>\n<p>Does the truck match the work?<\/p>\n<p>Can it be maintained?<\/p>\n<p>Does the specification make sense in the destination country?<\/p>\n<p>Can it provide useful working life after arrival?<\/p>\n<p>Those questions are more meaningful than price alone.<\/p>\n<h2>Japan Gives Us More Than One Way to Find the Right Truck<\/h2>\n<p>Another advantage of sourcing from Japan is access to a broad vehicle market.<\/p>\n<p>We do not have to rely only on one stock yard.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on what the customer needs, vehicles may be sourced from available dealer stock, auctions, and other Japanese market channels.<\/p>\n<p>This is particularly useful for trucks because specifications can be very specific.<\/p>\n<p>If the right vehicle is not immediately available in our current stock, understanding the customer&#8217;s exact requirements allows us to search more effectively.<\/p>\n<p>For buyers who are new to purchasing from Japan, our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.everycar.jp\/how-to-buy\/\">How to Buy from Japan<\/a> page explains the basic order, quotation, payment, shipping, and documentation process.<\/p>\n<h2>Experience Helps Us Ask Better Questions<\/h2>\n<p>EVERY TRADING has been exporting Japanese vehicles since 2006.<\/p>\n<p>During that time, we have worked with customers in more than 100 countries and handled trucks, buses, cars, farm tractors, machinery, and other working vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>For me, experience does not mean that we automatically know the perfect truck for every customer.<\/p>\n<p>It means we have learned which questions need to be asked.<\/p>\n<p>What will the vehicle do?<\/p>\n<p>Where will it operate?<\/p>\n<p>What specification does the customer really need?<\/p>\n<p>What can be maintained locally?<\/p>\n<p>What import requirements apply?<\/p>\n<p>And what represents good value for that particular customer?<\/p>\n<p>Those questions help turn vehicle sourcing into professional support.<\/p>\n<h2>Right Vehicle. Right Value. Right Support.<\/h2>\n<p>There is no single formula for choosing every Japanese used truck.<\/p>\n<p>A good truck for one customer may not be the right truck for another.<\/p>\n<p>That is why we look beyond the model name, mileage, photographs, or price alone. We consider the vehicle as a complete working tool and try to understand how it will be used after it leaves Japan.<\/p>\n<p>This connects directly to the way we want to work at EVERY:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Right Vehicle. Right Value. Right Support.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Right Vehicle should fit the customer&#8217;s work and country. The Right Value should make sense beyond the initial purchase price.
