How to Choose a Reliable Japanese Used Machinery Exporter

2026/9/29 Buying Guide, Exporter Verification, Japanese Used Machinery, Machinery Export

Choosing a reliable Japanese used machinery exporter should begin with verification, not price. Before sending money, confirm that the company really exists in Japan, that its legal name and address are consistent, and that the payment instructions match the business you are dealing with. Then evaluate how clearly the exporter explains the actual machine, its condition, serial number, price, shipping method and required documents. A reliable exporter should also be willing to answer practical questions before payment. Ask for the information needed to judge the machine and the complete transaction, not only attractive photos. You should understand what you are ...

How to Calculate Landed Cost of Used Machinery from Japan

2026/9/29 Import Cost, Japanese Used Machinery, Landed Cost, Machinery Export

The purchase price of a used excavator, wheel loader or other machine is only one part of the amount an overseas buyer will finally pay. A practical landed cost calculation should include the machine price, Japan-side logistics, ocean freight, insurance where applicable, destination port charges, customs duty, VAT or other import taxes, customs clearance and final inland delivery. The difficult part is that several of these costs depend on the destination country and the exact machine. Customs valuation rules, duty rates and tax calculations are not universal. Shipping cost also changes with machine dimensions, weight, route and shipping method. Therefore, ...

Shipping Tractors and Mini Excavators in One Container

2026/9/29 Container Shipping, Machinery Export, Mini Excavator, Tractor

Shipping a compact tractor and mini excavator together in one container can be practical when both machines fit the selected container and can be loaded and secured safely. However, the decision cannot be made from machine category alone. The actual length, width, height and weight of both units must be checked first. The loading plan also needs to include the tractor's ROPS, the excavator's blade and boom position, buckets, three-point implements, removed parts and securing materials. A 40ft High Cube may provide useful space for some compact combinations, but that does not mean every tractor and mini excavator pair will ...

What Determines Heavy Equipment Shipping Costs from Japan?

2026/9/29 Japanese Used Machinery, Machinery Export, Shipping Cost, Shipping Process

Heavy equipment shipping costs from Japan are not determined by machine weight alone. Size can be equally important, and for some shipping methods it matters even more. A wide wheel loader, tall excavator or long crane may occupy more vessel space than another machine of similar weight. The destination, available shipping route, loading port and cargo-handling method can also change the quotation. For overseas buyers, the most useful approach is to confirm the machine's actual shipping dimensions and weight first. Then identify whether RORO, Container, Flat Rack or Breakbulk is practical. After that, compare Japan inland transport, preparation, loading, ocean ...

Documents Required to Export Used Machinery from Japan

2026/9/29 Export Documents, Japanese Used Machinery, Machinery Export, Shipping Process

Exporting used machinery from Japan involves several types of documents, but not every shipment requires exactly the same set. For Japanese customs clearance, the core process includes an Export Declaration and supporting commercial information such as an Invoice. Additional permits, approvals or certificates may be necessary when another Japanese law applies to the cargo. Shipping documents form a separate group. The carrier needs cargo and party information to prepare documents such as the Bill of Lading. Meanwhile, the destination country may require its own import permit, certificate, inspection document or phytosanitary paperwork. Overseas buyers should therefore separate the process into ...

Why Machinery Cleaning Matters Before International Shipping

2026/9/29 Biosecurity, Japanese Used Machinery, Machinery Cleaning, Shipping Process

Cleaning used construction machinery before international shipping is not only about appearance. Soil, seeds, plant debris and other organic material can remain inside tracks, under guards, around axles, behind buckets and in small chassis spaces. Depending on the destination, this contamination can create a biosecurity problem and may lead to additional cleaning, inspection, treatment, delays or even rejection of the cargo. Overseas buyers should therefore confirm the destination country's latest import and biosecurity requirements before shipment. The level of cleaning required can vary by country, machine type and previous use. Agricultural, forestry and earthmoving machinery deserve particular attention because they ...

Flat Rack vs Breakbulk for Oversized Heavy Equipment

2026/9/29 Breakbulk, Flat Rack, Japanese Used Machinery, Oversized Machinery, Shipping Process

Flat Rack and Breakbulk shipping are both used when heavy equipment is too large or unsuitable for a standard enclosed container. The right choice depends mainly on the machine's actual dimensions, weight, shape and handling requirements. If one machine can be safely supported and secured on a suitable Flat Rack, that is often the first special-cargo option to investigate. Breakbulk becomes more relevant when the cargo is too large, too heavy or too complex for a single Flat Rack arrangement. However, there is no universal size where Flat Rack automatically becomes Breakbulk. Shipping lines use different equipment, vessels and acceptance ...
