Global Buying Strategy: Why Trust Matters More Than Price | EVERY Japan

Why Market-Specific Strategy Matters in Global Vehicle Trading

Subtitle: In today’s global market, success is not decided by price alone. The key is understanding what each market truly values and adapting your strategy accordingly.

We recently visited Malaysia and had the opportunity to observe the local market environment and buying behavior firsthand.

What we realized once again is very clear:

One strategy does not work for every market.

In Malaysia, the import of used vehicles from Japan is strictly controlled, and only a limited number of local companies are allowed to import them.

In addition, many of these companies purchase directly from Japanese auctions, which means that for many overseas buyers, access to Japanese used vehicles is not as open or flexible as it is in other regions.

In other words, this is not simply a market where the question is “where to buy.”
It is a market where the first challenge is whether you can enter the business structure at all.

However, what impressed us most during this visit was not only the regulation itself, but the style of decision-making in the market.

In Kuala Lumpur, price negotiation in used vehicle transactions appears to be very limited.

There is already a widely accepted market price, and when buyers believe the vehicle offers fair value within that range, they make quick decisions without lengthy negotiation.

This means the market is not driven by “who offers the cheapest price.”

It is driven by value, trust, quality, and confidence.

This is very different from emerging markets such as East Africa, where affordability often remains the central point of negotiation.

In lower-income or highly price-sensitive markets, buyers naturally focus on one main question:

How can I buy at the lowest possible price?

That will likely remain an important factor in those regions for some time.

But in more developed and economically advancing markets such as Malaysia, the standard changes.

The real questions become:

  • Can I trust this supplier?
  • Is the quality consistent?
  • Will the support be professional and reliable?
  • Is this a company I can work with long term?

In fact, in our previous business with a customer in Malaysia, there was almost no price negotiation.

The decision was made quickly because the discussion was not centered on finding the cheapest option.

It was centered on whether the product and the supplier were trustworthy enough to justify the purchase.

This is a very important point for international buyers.

The best purchase is not always the cheapest purchase.

The best purchase is the one that creates long-term value through:

  • Stable quality
  • Reliable supply
  • Fast and smooth communication
  • Professional export support
  • A trusted long-term partnership

At EVERY, we do not believe in applying the same sales approach to every country.

We believe in market-specific strategy.

That means:

  • Understanding the unique needs of each market
  • Proposing the right vehicles based on local demand
  • Providing professional export support with speed and accuracy
  • Building relationships based on trust, not short-term pricing alone

This is how we continue to create value for buyers around the world.

In Malaysia, entering the used vehicle segment may not be easy due to the market structure and regulations.

However, we see strong potential in the TM sector (Tractors & Machinery).

We will continue to move forward strategically in this field and deliver high-quality Japanese equipment to customers who value performance, reliability, and professional support.

Global markets are not the same.

Buying behavior is not the same.

And the way to win in each market is not the same.

That is why the companies that continue to grow globally are not the ones using one fixed method everywhere.

They are the ones that understand each market deeply and adapt with precision.

EVERY will continue to be that kind of partner.
