YARIS CROSS Debut!

On August 31, 2020, Toyota Motor released a new compact SUV "Yaris Cross". The Toyota Yaris Cross is a crossover model that sings the SUV version of the "Yarris." While inheriting the "light driving", "advanced safety and security technology" and "low fuel consumption" unique to the Yaris series, we are pursuing new value for compact SUV that is not limited to the convenience required in the new era. ..

The size of the body, which is slightly larger than Yaris, is total length x width x height = 4180 x 1765 x 1590 mm. Like the Yaris, the chassis uses the "GA-B" platform based on the TNGA concept, and the suspension is a MacPherson strut type front and a torsion beam type rear. The minimum ground clearance is 170 mm.

The exterior design keyword is "ENERGETIC SMART". The center and lower parts of the front part and the fender part have a three-dimensional structure to create a striking impression. The body side connects the front to the rear combination lamp with a horizontal axis, expressing the strength like SUV.

Around the dashboard, the flow in the vertical direction is emphasized from the center console to the display audio (DA) to emphasize the strength along with the exterior. The driver's line-of-sight movement has been minimized by adopting a meter panel and DA above and a head-up display. In addition to adopting a slush-molded soft pad on the upper part of the instrument panel, the warm new felt material is used extensively for the door trim.

The full luggage space that takes advantage of the SUV-like height is another selling point of the Yaris Cloth. The 4:2:4 split folding mechanism of the rear seat backrest and the deck board capable of 6:4 split are adopted for the first time as Toyota's compact SUV. The luggage space boasts a segment-leading capacity of 390 liters (in the case of a pure gasoline FWD vehicle), and can hold two 110-liter suitcases or two 9.5-inch golf bags. In addition, it also has a hands-free power back door that opens the rear hatch when you carry your smart key and put your foot under the rear bumper. This is also the first time for Toyota's compact SUV to use, and it can be opened and closed at about twice the speed compared to similar mechanisms on existing Toyota vehicles.

There are two types of power trains: a maximum output of 120PS, a maximum torque of 145N・m, a 1.5-liter direct 3-injection "dynamic force engine" + CVT with a gear for starting, or a hybrid based on the same 1.5-liter (system output: 116PS). A 4WD system with "Multi Terrain Select" equipped with three driving modes according to the road surface condition is set for gasoline vehicles, and an electric 4WD "E-" equipped with "Snow" and "Trail" modes for hybrid vehicles. Four” (rear shaft driven by a motor) is prepared. Both systems are equipped with "Downhill Assist Control" to maintain stable speed on downhills and to support stable driving. The fuel consumption value in the WLTC mode is 17.4km to 20.2km/liter for gasoline vehicles and 26.0km to 30.8km/liter for hybrid vehicles.

The Toyota Safety Sense preventive safety package is standard equipment on major grades. Like the Yaris, it has pre-crash safety and low-speed acceleration suppression functions, etc. In addition, the adoption of an electric parking brake has evolved "radar cruise control" to include all-vehicle speed tracking functions. For the first time, Toyota has adopted a control system that detects strong crosswinds during high-speed driving to prevent deviation from the lane.
